Stacey’s fees sit below the consultation fee recommended by the Australian Psychological Society, which is currently $315.

A standard 50-minute consultation, in person or by telehealth, is $225. With the Medicare rebate of $141.85, most clients pay a gap of $83.15 per session.

Referrals

Medicare rebates. To claim a rebate you need a referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, who will assess whether you are eligible and prepare the plan with you.

A Mental Health Treatment Plan covers 6 sessions. After those, you return to your GP for a review, which can release a further 4. The maximum is 10 rebated sessions per calendar year.

The current Medicare rebate for a session with a clinical psychologist is $141.85.

If you have a diagnosed eating disorder, an Eating Disorder Management Plan gives you considerably more. Written by a GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist, it covers up to 40 psychological sessions and 20 dietetics sessions over a 12-month period.

Clinical Supervision

For registered psychologists. Stacey is a board-approved supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia. Supervision is available in person or by telehealth, at $225 per session.

Private Health Insurance

Psychology sessions may be subsidised by your private health fund if your policy includes extras cover.

You cannot claim a Medicare rebate and a private health rebate for the same session, so check with your fund which leaves you better off.

Cancellation Policy

Please give as much notice as you can if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice incur a fee of $100, payable before your next appointment is scheduled.

Appointments are in short supply and a late cancellation usually cannot be filled, which is why the fee exists. If something genuinely unavoidable comes up, please say so.
